A Little Blizzard or Creative ways to Sled

I was washing my mothers old cookie sheets this morning and was remembering how, when my kids went over to her house when it snowed, she pulled out those same cookie sheets and let the kids slide down the little hill by her condo on them. The kids loved that more than the sleds we had.

Yesterday we had a little blizzard. The weather here on the North Coast has been terrible. 60 degrees and no snow all November and December, but finally we got winter weather when it was officially winter. Blustery, frigid, and snowy.

Today the kids went out and had fun. They have sleds, so we didn't pull out the cookie sheets, but Luna does have a favorite toy bucket she likes to empty and climb into, so there she is in her bucket in the snow.

Dink preferred the sled. We live on a hill so it's pretty darn fun, as long as you can get the sled to stop before you slide into the lake at the bottom of the very steep hill. It's on the other side of the road, but the hill is so steep, if you get a good head start, you can pass the road and over to the lake.

So if you have snow, don't let lack of a sled keep you from having fun. I've even seen plastic garbage bags, plastic yoga mats, or summer rafts used to sled on,
