A Spectacular Earth Day 2010

Those of you who know me and my Daughter Poppy, know that we've had it a few problems this year. Illness, job loss, fire and the eventual loss of our home plagued us. We were beginning to think we were cursed. But our lives are gradually improving.

On Earth Day 2010, we were very happy. It was a beautiful day, the sun was out, the birds were singing and we had just heard that we were getting a new roof next week. While the boys were at school we were preparing the Vegetable garden to plant and digging a hole for the new Cherry Tree.

Justin and I looked out over the lake and saw a huge bird over the lake. We couldn't believe our eyes, but after checking later, we found it was true. This huge soaring bird, flying over our lake, black with a white head and tail, was really an American Bald Eagle. It took my breath away. What a wonderful thing to see on Earth Day. An omen of a brighter future for my family and for our country. Like the Eagle that was nearly wiped out, we will survive by our stamina and patience.
